Ten Years Later

Dear Blue Mind Angels,

Ten year ago tomorrow we completed our 1,200 mile trek down our coast from Oregon to Mexico.

Walking 1,200 miles along the ocean and living outside for four months teaches you a lot about nature, people, and yourself.

A lot has happened over that decade, good and bad, but the fundamental challenges to our coast and ocean still remain.

Today I visited several beaches along our Slow Coast and worked and spoke with people helping to keep them clean, as well as people just out enjoying the (rainy) day.

One thing I know is that we won't be able to fix what's broken unless people continue to fall in love with our little blue planet. Fear, guilt, and more data won't do it.

Love is at the core of everything we do.

Thank you for your continuing support for this work and the experiments we try in our efforts to reconnect people to our water planet every day.

By building personal relationships and new collaborations, increasing our understanding and finding new solutions to big and small problems, and by sharing what we learn far and wide through a variety of media I know together we've made a measurable contribution.

Here's to the decade ahead and all the walks, short and long, we'll take.

I wish you water,

J.
