Santa Cruz Sentinel: Michael Pollan to speak

"Every Body Eats" is a benefit featuring a conversation with bestselling author Michael Pollan and local food champions moderated by author-activist John Robbins at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Santa Cruz High School auditorium, 415 Walnut Ave.

Panelists include Randall Grahm, biodynamic vintner; Jamie Smith, senior manager of Food Services & Nutrition with Santa Cruz City Schools and former restaurant chef; Jim Cochran, founder of Swanton Berry Farm, the first organic strawberry farm in California; Homeless Garden Project's exective director Darrie Ganzhorn; and Wallace J. Nichols, marine biologist, author and father.

SlowCoast and SustainableSantaCruz are producing the event. Doors open at 7 p.m.

After the 90-minute event, Pollan will sign his latest book, "Food Rules, Illustrated."
