Old Pueblo among top arts
destinations, magazine says
Tucson’s vibrant arts scene makes it a top 10 draw among mid-sized cities in the nation, according to readers of AmericanStyle magazine.
Participants in the 10th annual poll of the top 25 arts destinations ranked the Old Pueblo No. 9, while Phoenix jumped from No. 15 to No. 8 in the big cities category. Other Arizona cities on the list include No. 4 Scottsdale (mid-size) and No. 2 Sedona
and No. 19 Tubac (small cities and towns).
The top five locations in the top 25 big cities category (populations of 500,000 or more) were New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Seattle.
Top vote-getters in the mid-sized cities category (populations of 100,000 to 499,999), were Pittsburgh; Albuquerque, N.M.; Las Vegas; Scottsdale; and Atlanta.
Leaders among small cities and towns (populations fewer than 100,000) were Santa Fe; Sedona; Key West, Fla.; Taos, N.M.; and Asheville, N.C.

Arizona Highways TV show
features spot on Fox Theatre
The Fox Theatre will be featured in this weekend’s episode of Arizona Highways TV show.
The show, taped in late March and April, highlights the history of the theater and the current programming since re-opening in.
It airs at 4:30 p.m. Sunday on KGUN 9.
The film crew, based in Phoenix, travels all over Arizona taping shows for a statewide audience and is an off-shoot of the Arizona Highways magazine.
Weil, UA grad-biologist Nichols
featured in new DiCaprio film
“The 11th Hour,” directed and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, features interviews with Dr. Andrew Weil and University of Arizona graduate and biologist Wallace J. Nichols.
They are among the 50 leading scientists, thinkers and leaders discussing the impact of humans on the earth’s environment. The film will screen at the Cannes Film Festival this month and will be released in theaters later this year.
