University of Arizona graduate and marine biologist Dr. Wallace J. Nichols was featured on Animal Planet’s “Get Out There!” last week.
The show transports American families on VIP nature tours into wilderness areas to see an array of wildlife. Guided by biologists, each family ventures into the back country to learn about wild animal behavior in America’s top national parks and other locations.
On last week’s show, 13-year-old Parker Ellis, a video game junkie at the beginning of the trip to Baja’s Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park, concluded, “This trip has done a lot of things to me. I think I’m going to be going outside a lot more when I get home.”
Nichols, along with a team of local experts and conservationists, took the Ellis family on an adventure. The group got close to whales, sea turtles, dolphins and manta rays, snorkeled Cabo Pulmo reefs and hiked to nearby waterfalls.
“What’s so great about this show is that it’s about regular families having the time of their lives doing eco-travel,” Nichols said in a news release. “Caring for special places and animals begins with each family. The kids’ lives are changed forever.”
