Popular Science Magazine: Gata, come home.(sea turtles)

EVERYONE LOVED GATA THE SEA turtle: the tough, salty fishermen who caught her, the biologist who outfitted her with a transmitter and released her, and the thousands of school kids who followed her on the Internet as she swam up the coast of Mexico. She was a 50-year-old 310-pound beauty and in March, she vanished off Baja, California Biologist Wallace J. Nichols set out to find her.

Nichols has spent eight years studying sea turtles. He uses sophisticated satellite systems to track their migration.
